Job Opportunity – Interim Managing Producer
Rumble Theatre is seeking an energetic, entrepreneurial, and organized person for the position of Interim Managing Producer. This is a full-time, salaried job combining elements of general management and production leadership. The position is a one-year maternity leave cover. The position will be full-time from May 1st 2017 – April 30th, 2018, with training to occur on a part-time basis in April of 2017.
Rumble Theatre believes in creating a more compassionate world through the communal sharing of stories. We explore our history through commissioning and producing new adaptations of outstanding narratives, we investigate the present moment through producing contemporary plays from the Canadian and world repertoire, and we act as champions of Vancouver’s emerging artists to ensure a vital future. Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Interim Managing Producer is responsible for the financial management, administration, fundraising, production management, and audience development of the company – ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the organization. The Interim Managing Producer provides professional support to the Board of Directors and acts as an advocate of Rumble to arts professionals, various stakeholders, and the community-at-large.
The ideal candidate has professional connections in the Canadian theatre community. They have an intimate understanding of how theatre systems work, from administrative management to artistic production process and industry/community networks. They have a sense of humour, act as a collaborative partner, and steer the organization by ensuring the achievement of both short- and long-term artistic and organizational goals and priorities, as set out in our current strategic plan. They will foster healthy relations with public and private funders, donors, artists, sponsors, audiences, and other key stakeholders.
The candidates existing skill-set may include: production management, stage management, general management, fundraising and/or marketing, from any number of backgrounds. The candidate is seeking stable, short-term, dedicated work in a casual but high-functioning environment.
Position duties include: budgeting, administrative and general management, grant-writing, production management, contracting of production personnel and artists, support on marketing and networking initiatives, facilities management, staff and intern supervision, primary liaison with the Board of Directors. Some evening and weekend work is required.
Rumble has an annual operating budget of $300,000 and receives operating support from all three levels of government.
Remuneration: $40,000/pa plus benefits, including extended medical and dental.
