Emerging Playwright-in-Residence

For the 2018-19 season Rumble is extending our mentorship programming to include an Emerging Playwright-in-Residence position. The emerging playwright will receive season-long mentorship (November 2018 – June 2019) from our playwright-in-residence, acclaimed playwright and author Carmen Aguirre, as they work toward completing the first draft of a new play.

We’re pleased to announce to that Lili Robinson has been selected as this year’s Emerging Playwright-in-Residence. We’re very exciting to work with her over the next year. Here’s a little more about Lili:

Lili Robinson, Rumble Theatre’s Emerging Playwright-in-Residence 2018/19.

Lili Robinson is an emerging interdisciplinary artist and a graduate of the acting program at Studio 58. As an actor she has worked with companies such as Boca del Lupo and Theatre Replacement. (She will also be stepping into the role of Artistic Producing Intern at Theatre Replacement in January 2019.) This past spring she made her playwriting debut through Studio 58’s production of Chimera, co-written with Heather Barr, as part of the biannual Fourplay festival. She is currently involved as a writer-creator on multiple projects, including her up-and-coming bouffon-style clown show, Mx, which will explore what it means to be mixed-race and Black in the world today. She is beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Carmen and the rest of the Rumble team, and cannot wait to dive further into the world of writing and play development.
